tw: non-con touching

In truth, Bai Ling shared a common trait with female raptors—

He could be persuaded by kindness, but never by force.

If you gently spoke to him and explained things reasonably, even if he didn’t understand, he would respond politely.

But if you dared to flip the table on him, he would definitely pour oil and burn your ancestral home to the ground.

So, while Yu Chen thought his questioning was justified, after a long silence, he was met with a cold sneer:

“Inspect? By what right are you inspecting me?”

Seeing the merman’s face darken as he prepared to speak, Bai Ling ruthlessly cut him off: “Just because you’re a ‘guardian’?”

Bai Ling slammed the combat suit down, and the wet water splashed onto Yu Chen’s feet from a distance.

“If you said you were tired or hungry and wanted to sleep with me, let alone taking off my clothes, I’d pack myself up and deliver myself right to your bed. But if you think you’re superior and treat me like an object, I won’t let you have an easy night either.”

He gave him the cupcake, he coaxed the old guy but if he was going to come over at midnight and lose his temper for no rhyme or reason, regardless of what had happened—

He wasn’t going to indulge this shitty alpha behavior!

Yu Chen hadn’t expected such a fierce reaction. His brow furrowed, making him even more suspicious that something was wrong.

To him, this looked like a stray dog barking with false bravado, trying to hide something under his very nose.

Yu Chen took a deep breath. As he inhaled, the scent of a strange alpha’s pheromones hit his nasal cavity directly, making his whole body stiffen as if his reverse scale had been touched.

He suppressed his rage as he asked: “Why are you washing clothes in the middle of the night?”

Bai Ling thought he was going to ask something else, but this was it?

He let out a cold snort. “You’re even going to micromanage me washing my clothes now?”

“There’s the scent of an alpha on these clothes. At least S-grade.”

Bai Ling crossed his arms and sat on the edge of the bathtub, arching an eyebrow as he eyed him sideways. “Your nose is quite sharp. I’ve been covered in alpha scents before; why didn’t I see you making a fuss then?”

The muscles at the corner of Yu Chen’s eye twitched slightly, struggling to restrain the surging possessiveness in his gut. “This one is different.”

Pheromones can subtly reveal the emotional state of the person releasing them at that moment.

He hadn’t cared before because the pheromones clinging to Bai Ling were mostly filled with emotions like dread, fear, resentment, or awe…

He feels no sense of crisis toward those weakling alphas.

But this time is different.

He didn’t know whose pheromones these were, but the scent saturating these clothes clearly broadcasted a fervent desire for possession and competition.

To a dominant alpha like him, this was a provocation—

As if the other person had finished devouring the prize and then marked their territory just to insult him!

He felt offended and utterly disgusted.

They deserve to die.

Bai Ling was baffled. He picked up the combat suit, sniffed it again, and tossed it back. “What’s the problem? You’re not seriously jealous of a piece of clothing, are you? This isn’t even mine; I just borrowed it.”

It would have been better if he hadn’t spoken, but the moment the words left his mouth, the merman suddenly walked towards him.

Bai Ling’s scalp tingled; knowing the old man was going to use his old tricks to catch him, he immediately hurled the wet clothes at him and turned to bolt from the side.

A fierce wind swept past, nearly grazing the strands of Bai Ling’s hair.

He watched as a hand slammed horizontally with immense force, blocking his path while simultaneously punching a fist-sized hole into the tile.

Yu Chen kept his eyes lowered, his golden hair was disheveled, and he was breathing slightly hard.

“When you used my pants to build a nest, did you have this same casual attitude?”

Bai Ling froze. The hand was pulled from the wall, and crushed stone dust trickled down the tile.

“Wearing my sweater, silently being coerced by other alphas behind my back, and you even brought someone else’s clothes back to wear?”

You are slapping my face as your guardian.

A dark shadow pressed at the corners of Yu Chen’s lips, as if something were brewing:

“You were not honest with me. You didn’t ask for my help. I am very displeased.”

An inexplicable chill ran down Bai Ling’s spine. He frowned and was about to speak when the merman launched an attack without warning. The hand seizing his waist was as rigid as a pair of pliers; the thick knuckles nearly dug into his flesh!

A suffocating sense of pressure surged as Bai Ling’s vision blurred and his back slammed against the tiles.

The merman violently ripped off the black sweater, throwing it far away. It hit the door with a dull thud and fell pathetically to the floor.

Heat welled up in Bai Ling’s eyes as he nearly shrieked at him, “LET ME GO!”

In the next second, the jarring sound of tearing fabric echoed through the bathroom. The white shirt dissolved into tattered shreds, and the faded denim jeans were ripped apart in a single tug.

That large, callus-covered hand conducted a meticulous, inch-by-inch inspection, not missing a single suspicious mark. He even rubbed over old scars repeatedly, even leaning in to sniff them to confirm there was no scent of fresh blood.

“It seems you’ve forgotten the pain once the wound healed,” the merman’s voice was low and icy.

He had heard how cruel that group of “falcon boiling” nobles could be.

Moreover—

Yu Chen gripped the base of those lean, strong legs, below which lay the cold prosthetic.

He had already lost one leg, yet he still dared to go out and risk his life alone.

This time he was lucky.

What if he wasn’t lucky next time? Would this bird have his wings broken and silently be disposed of, leaving Yu Chen unable to find him, driven to a tragic madness?

The merman’s sharp claws became like industrial shears, tearing a hole in the trouser leg that tightly hugged his thigh with a ripping sound. His hand thrust directly through the opening, probing deep inside.

Bai Ling’s eyes widened in disbelief. He instinctively pulled his knees together to stop this “inspection.”

His gaze trembled downward; he could see the shape of the broad, hard wrist stretching the denim, pushing forward along the edge of the prosthetic, then hooking a corner and thrusting his longest middle finger in through the fabric’s pressure.

It’s more uncomfortable than an internal inhibitor stick.

Bai Ling began to shake all over. He lunged forward and his teeth sunk hard into the man’s vein-lined neck. His chest heaved, his back arched lower and lower, and every muscle in his body tightened in desperate resistance.

Damn you, Izsu Paraiso, you bastard!!!

No alpha has ever dared to invade his terrritory like this!!

He is going to bite this old jerk’s middle finger off!

The merman’s face pressed against his ear, his deep voice vibrating, making Bai Ling’s teeth rattle:

“Did you wash?”

“Screw you! You shitty alpha!” Bai Ling’s eyes were bloodshot as he kicked him out, striking the man’s shin dead center.

Taking advantage of the moment the merman bent over in pain, he shoved that iron-like chest away and limped out.

With every step, he felt a fire burning in his gut, surging up through his stomach. The burning sensation forced a reflexive dry heave.

Dammit, dammit…

He was so furious he was about to burst. He had already walked out, but he turned back, grabbed the toothbrush cup, and hurled it:

“Did you actually do anything or not?! Is there anyone as brutal as you!”

“It’s my first time.”

The old alpha flicked out the tip of his bright red, snake-like tongue. Right in front of him, he slowly and deliberately licked his finger.

Bai Ling: “……” Fuck it!

“Very moist,” the other man remarked as if tasting a delicacy, smacking his lips. “Sweet and sour.”

Finally, the merman summarized the aftertaste: “No scent of other alphas remaining.”

Bai Ling’s teeth chattered with rage. “There won’t be yours either from now on.”

“I know. I will use protection next time.” Yu Chen arched an eyebrow, his mood clearly much better.

Bai Ling pinched the flesh of his own leg, letting out a harsh, cold laugh. “Are you satisfied? Did you get your way? You controlling voyeur.”

Yu Chen’s gaze darkened. “What did you say?”

“Izsu Paraiso, do you think too much of yourself? Do you think just because I swore loyalty to you, you can treat me like your toy and pin me against a wall to do whatever you want? Go to hell!”

Facing his string of outbursts, Yu Chen’s expression returned to calm:

“You should have told me sooner that nothing happened, so I wouldn’t lose control of my emotions.”

“…Ridiculous. How was I supposed to know what you knew? You didn’t even ask me.” Bai Ling’s teeth ground together.

Yu Chen paused, then slowly said, “Someone told me you boarded a ship tonight, the ship that crashed into the ‘Space Palace’ not long ago. I wanted to confirm you hadn’t been harmed.”

The words sounded perfectly dignified.

But Bai Ling couldn’t accept this reasoning at all.

To “confirm” he hadn’t been harmed by those alphas, he violated his psychological safety zone?

“Right, right, I’m exactly the kind of person you think I am. Wearing your sweater while hooking up with other alphas. Kissing me will only dirty your mouth, so go ahead and throw up.”

“That is not the issue. The issue is that you should have reported to me. Before you take a solo risk next time, no matter when or where, you must discuss it with me beforehand.”

Yu Chen didn’t think his request was excessive.

This lawless little bird could bomb a palace behind his back today; what would he do tomorrow?

Did he really plan to overthrow the Empire without telling him?

He would never allow such danger to happen again.

Bai Ling replied coldly, “Izsu Paraiso, I know absolutely nothing about you either. By what right do you demand a detailed report of all my private affairs?”

He could tell the merman was indeed hiding things from him.

And not just a little.

Even though their relationship had reached the point of being intimate enough to eat and sleep together, he knew nothing of the merman’s life, hobbies, or even his exact age.

Yu Chen’s face stiffened, but he kept his voice calm:

“We are in a guardianship relationship, and you are loyal to me. I have the right to be responsible for your safety.”

Bai Ling mocked: “Responsible? Or just satisfying your urge for control?”

“You were Emperor for so many years and signed so many international treaties; surely you understand the basic principle of an exchange of interests? I’ve given you my loyalty. What about you? Do you have no obligation to disclose anything?”

“You say you’re worried about me being harmed by those alphas. That shows you don’t understand me nearly enough.”

Yu Chen silently repeated the word “understand.”

As a blind man, he didn’t even know what this little bird looked like.

Regarding the bird’s past, he followed the principle of not touching scars and rarely asked questions.

He hadn’t expected this to become an impassable wall between them.

The more Bai Ling thought about it, the angrier he got. He felt he had to use this opportunity to throw all their conflicts out at once and force this guy to face the reality of the situation.

This wasn’t a tantrum; rather, it was a necessary process for adults to solve problems.

Otherwise, the resentment would just fester and rot in his heart. By the time he couldn’t take it anymore, he was probably just going to leave this eccentric, empty-nest old fish.

Bai Ling’s gaze was freezing: “I hope you understand that I am not your property. Does a kiss or a mark mean you’ve written your name on me?”

“If I slept with you, would you take my last name?”

Yu Chen remained silent. He admitted that he had been excessive just now.

He was old now and he could no longer release his controlling urges as wantonly as he did in his youth.

After decades of suppression, he had suddenly found a subtle outlet in this omega.

At first, the crack was tiny, and his distorted desires only peeked out once or twice; the other party would be wary for a moment but gradually let down their guard under his gentle coaxing.

But lately, Yu Chen had become increasingly dissatisfied with the status quo. He was impatient to tear that opening wide, to grab this little bird and lock him in his heart.

To control his body and soul, to monopolize his loyalty, and to ensure that every wound he suffered healed under his own surveillance.

Though Yu Chen was used to a life of high power, at his age, he didn’t have much left to be pretentious about.

Moreover, the bird before him was likely the one who would accompany him through the rest of his life.

Yu Chen admitted frankly: “This is my fault. I should have stabilized my mindset and sat down to talk with you first.”

Seeing his attitude was somewhat rational, Bai Ling let out a lukewarm smile.

He knew the deep-seated vices of these alphas all too well.

Back when he managed the Revolutionary Army, 70% of the group were alphas, each one more controlling than the last.

Omegas were rare on the battlefield, mostly working as medics. Those alphas couldn’t wait to run to their doors daily, declaring their “sovereignty” in the name of “care,” forcing Bai Ling to hold a gun to their heads and make them kneel and apologize to the omegas.

He had to intervene.

He knew that if he didn’t use authority to interfere and let these alphas run loose, sooner or later, these self-important fools would cause a catastrophe by venting their control issues.

Getting into fights over jealousy was the least of it; on the battlefield, harboring grudges and refusing to save each other would cause total chaos in morale. That would be truly irreversible.

Bai Ling didn’t think he was making a big deal out of nothing.

Prevent problems before they arise, and learn from small things to see big ones.

Take this old fish, for example.

Bai Ling knew he would eventually go to the front lines. Compared to seven weak alphas on a ship, the battlefield was a thousand times more complex. Life and death, injury and illness were common occurrences.

This old fish wanted him to live under safety and protection; there was nothing wrong with that, but that “wish” stood in direct opposition to his life goals.

Bai Ling would never clip his wings and stop taking risks for Yu Chen’s sake.

So, he had to step on the merman’s tail and grab his hand, teaching Yu Chen to figure out his boundaries and forcing him to adapt. He had to make the merman accept the “dangers” he might encounter from now on so he could master this old guy and go further together.

“Today you suspected I was being bullied, so you forced an inspection against my will.”

“Tomorrow, if I’m out seizing territory on a wild planet for months and break a few nails, are you going to send twelve golden plaques to make me come back?”

“And here I thought you were an alpha who understood the big picture. Heh, I didn’t expect you to be so clueless.”

Yu Chen: ?

“In the future… not come home… send Golden Plaques?” He quickly picked out the key points.

Only a reigning Emperor could send a Golden Plaque.

Is his little bird thinking…

Bai Ling didn’t beat around the bush and said straightforwardly, “Yes. I originally wanted to prop you up to be the monarch.”

The Revolutionary Army lacked a legitimate figurehead.

Yu Chen’s heart jolted, unsure if it was relief or worry.

That was not an easy path to walk.

He leaned against the marble counter and walked over, wanting to soothe the startled bird. “This matter needs to be discussed at length—”

However, the bird was as cold as frost. He flippantly patted Yu Chen’s cheek:

“Too bad. I’ve changed my mind now.”

Bai Ling yanked him by the collar, his breath arrogant as it brushed against the merman’s ear. He said cruelly:

“Actually, just wait until I become the new Emperor. I’ll reward you by making you my puppet Empress, alpha.”
