Hearing this, Jiang‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍ Ci froze. Before he could respond, a streak of silver shot past with a sharp “whoosh,” slipping under the hem of his uniform.

The Major General lifted his uniform and found a trembling Bai Ze pendant clinging to him.

“A-Ci! A-Ci!!!”

Bai Ze was losing it.

“It’s so scary! It’s so scary!!!”

It hadn’t even realized that it hadn’t completely deleted Xiao X’s language pack, which had now synced over 60%. But it had no time to care about language packs—its core program was on the verge of collapse.

Bai Ze could no longer maintain the mature, steady older-brother figure he once had, nor was he the calm mecha brother who could provide water to his young master in times of crisis.

Right now, Bai Ze really wished he were a parenting AI system—at least its body would be safe.

“Listen! Listen to what he’s saying! That Alpha of yours wants to eat a SS mecha!”

Bai Ze connected to the biochip behind Jiang Ci’s ear, so Huo Xianfeng couldn’t hear these words.

Of course, it didn’t dare let the Demon King hear them.

Jiang Ci: “…”

Oh, right—Bai Ze was also a SS mecha.

So Huo Xianfeng’s behavior was like killing a dog and eating dog meat in front of his wife’s dog, and then discussing whether the next dog he should eat should be his wife’s dog.

Jiang Ci rubbed his forehead. He was amused by his own absurd comparison but at the same time, felt a bit speechless.

Meanwhile, the Demon King himself didn’t seem to realize he was the cause of this problem.

“What’s with Bai Ze?”

Huo Xianfeng asked casually as he split open another mecha core, glancing over at Jiang Ci and looking genuinely puzzled.

“Did it get a virus?”

Jiang Ci: “…”

Bai Ze: “…”

It would rather have a virus.

If it did, at least it wouldn’t have to face something so cruel.

Even the legendary SSS mecha Forbidden Abyss, the mightiest existence in the mecha world, trembled with fear when thinking of him… Why had his dear A-Ci chosen such a monster as a partner?

Jiang Ci pulled out the Bai Ze pendant, reattached it around his neck, and tucked it under his coat, giving it a reassuring pat.

“Huo Xianfeng, could you…”

Jiang Ci originally wanted to ask if he could eat somewhere away from Bai Ze, but then realized that was probably unrealistic. So he could only whisper to Bai Ze,

“You might want to step aside whenever he’s having a meal.”

Bai Ze: “…”

He never should’ve thought that Jiang Ci being single was a bad thing. What was wrong with being single?!

Right now, Bai Ze just felt that if Jiang Ci could stay single, he’d gladly endure his heat in the cockpit every day.

Huo Xianfeng noticed Jiang Ci’s gaze and asked,

“What’s wrong?”

Jiang Ci didn’t mention Bai Ze; after all, it wasn’t like Huo Xianfeng was actually going to eat his mecha. Instead, he focused on the small white knife in Huo Xianfeng’s hand.

“Hey, that little white knife of yours—what material is that?”

Jiang Ci prided himself on knowing all the materials that humans had discovered, yet he’d never seen anything that could slice metal as effortlessly as tofu. That was usually something that only laser beams could do.

Jiang Ci remembered when he’d asked about Huo Xianfeng’s age, the other party joked that if they counted from the time he hatched, he would only be two months old.

“I ate most of my eggshell back then, but there were some left and I made this knife.”

Jiang Ci hadn’t yet grasped the deeper meaning of that statement, but Bai Ze caught it immediately. In other words, the small knife, capable of slicing through metal so easily, was also the Demon King’s food!

Bai Ze was stunned.

In fact, Higher Zergs didn’t have a reproductive drive as strong as humans, but they did enter a kind of courting phase, similar to when humans crave relationships, and it mostly affected male Zergs. They weren’t like human omegas who experienced painful symptoms if they didn’t mate with an alpha.

So that meant…

Laying… eggs…

So, do we also need to hatch the eggs???

Bizarre images flashed through Jiang Ci’s mind, and he felt every hair on his body stand on end.

Clatter.

The knife slipped from his grasp and fell on the table, but instead of falling flat, it stuck straight into the metal tabletop.

Bai Ze shuddered with fear.

Jiang Ci’s heart also skipped a beat,  but because of this, he finally came back to his senses,  He quickly pulled the knife out, shoving the “eggshell” back at Huo Xianfeng as if it were burning hot.

The Major General hastily finished his breakfast, then stood up with a severe expression.

 “All right, let’s go.”

His face was expressionless and his tone was so stoic it was as though he had completely deleted what Huo Xianfeng had just said from his memory.

Huo Xianfeng’s eyes gleamed with amusement as he slowly got up and stretched out.

“Sure.”

But instead of heading straight to the Central Temple, Jiang Ci took a detour to the Legion Commander’s office

—He wants to borrow Wan Jiang.

“I’ll be working with the teachers to restore the Central Temple’s core brain so we can disable the monitoring satellites outside.”

Jiang Ci briefly explained to Huo Xianfeng along the way.

“The two factions use completely different systems: the Empire uses the Eternal Cloud system, while the Illusory God Church use their own system. So, they’re incompatible and the Forbidden Abyss’ main program system is synced with the Illusory God Church’s system.”

“The Forbidden Abyss would normally be the best choice, but its main program has recently been rebooted, it hasn’t fully recovered, and it has even generated a new subprogram ‘Xiao X’. Only after they’re separated will it return to peak processing speed.”

These technical terms were probably Huo Xianfeng’s only blind spot in knowledge.  He knew human technology was impressive, but to the Zergs, their meticulously crafted mechas were just like oversized chocolate figures. So Huo Xianfeng was not very interested in them. He was much more interested in human combat skills, martial arts, and the like.

“Can’t Bai Ze handle it?”

In Huo Xianfeng’s eyes, Bai Ze and Wan Jiang were practically identical except in color and size.

Jiang Ci shook his head.

“Bai Ze is a bit lacking because it was manufactured after the Empire was established. Although it’s also derived from Forbidden Abyss’ main program, my father added a lot of new programs to it. Wan Jiang was manufactured during the Alliance era, and it shares the same system as Bright City, so using Wan Jiang’s program for decryption and repair will be slightly faster.”

As Jiang Ci talked, Huo Xianfeng closely observed him and found that when the Major General mentioned these tech terms, his eyes unconsciously lit up and even his tone brightened up.

——It seems like he really likes it.

However, what you like to do doesn’t mean it has to be your only focus or life path. Still, Huo Xianfeng quite liked watching the usually stoic Major General babbling on in this lively, spirited way.

To his surprise, however, the Legion Commander, who practically lived in his office, wasn’t there.

“Huh?”

Jiang Ci was taken aback.

Even though he and his uncle weren’t exactly warm or close, they were familiar with each other’s routines. Zhou Jiuya was a complete workaholic, so there was no reason for him to be away from his office.

Feeling puzzled, Jiang Ci decided to check the Commander’s quarters, even though he doubted Zhou Jiuya would be asleep.

“Bai Ze, ask Wan Jiang where the Legion Commander is right now.”

Bai Ze: “…”

It fell silent for a few seconds before speaking up.

“It’s still early. Perhaps… it’s best not to disturb him just yet.”

Bai Ze had done some research last night. Since Jiang Ci is an omega, its programming includes extensive information on AO bonding, and it had witnessed many live demonstrations in the past.

But its data on AA pairing was blank.

So, Bai Ze had taken it upon itself to investigate.

The results… were intense, to say the least

Because alpha genes inherently carry traits of domination, aggression, and conquest. If an AO pairing is like the seamless fit of a blade and sheath, an AA pairing is a battle of two blades.

Each wants to conquer the other, leading to a fierce and even brutal scene, sometimes with a hint of bloodshed.
