“Hmm? Precious tail?”

Instead of feeling offended, Huo Xianfeng arched an eyebrow, a teasing smile forming on his lips.
“So, you really like it, huh?”

As soon as he finished speaking, the tip of his tail eagerly rubbed against the palm of Jiang Ci’s hand.

Jiang Ci: “…”

He hadn’t expected Huo Xianfeng to shamelessly play along, turning the teasing back on him.

But having something alive excitedly wriggling in his palm was too weird. Plus, Jiang Ci’s hands were already quite sensitive. The sensation shot up his arm like an electric current, causing him to reflexively let go, only to quickly grab the tail a bit lower down and yank it off his waist without mercy.

The Major General’s tone was cold:
“Turn on the lights.”

Click—

From the doorway, Nora obediently turned on the light.

The world was immediately all light and all the ambiguous atmosphere was gone.

Huo Xianfeng: “…”

He hadn’t expected the mood to shift so abruptly.

And then—

Huo Xianfeng turned his gaze to the purple-haired girl standing at the door, still puzzled as to why Jiang Ci had brought her along. But when Nora saw the King looking at her, she  immediately ran over excitedly, proudly saying,
Kwing~”

Jiang Ci, who had been trying hard to keep a straight face, couldn’t hold it any longer. He turned away and his shoulders trembled with laughter.

Huo Xianfeng felt a headache coming on.
“…How about speaking in Zerg language instead?”

Nora scratched her head in confusion but obediently nodded.
[Understood, King.]

After the small commotion settled, Jiang Ci didn’t forget the real reason they had come here tonight.

Ten minutes later, the trio—one human and two Zergs—sat on the carpet, waiting for Xiao X to reboot.

Huo Xianfeng didn’t ask why Jiang Ci wasn’t restarting Xiao X in the temple’s restoration chamber. He could guess why—Jiang Ci probably didn’t want anyone else to see the hologram image of his mother.

“Beep—”

A silver bracelet floated into the air, spinning slowly in circles.

“Rebooting program…”
“Rebooting program…”
“Reboot successful!”

“Uwaa—!!!”

A familiar electronic voice burst out.

“A-Ci, A-Ci, A-Ci!!!”

Xiao X sounded like a puppy that had been cooped up at home for months and was finally let outside to play. It swiftly circled around Jiang Ci several times.

“My darling A-Ci! I missed you, missed you so much, Xiao X missed you to death~~~~”

At this moment, the silver bracelet screeched to a halt mid-air and then landed on Nora’s head, furiously rubbing against her, turning her silky smooth hair into a complete mess.

“Oh oh oh, and my darling Nora, wuwuwu, Xiao X missed you too~~~~”

Aaaaah, my precious Nora can even speak now, wuwuwu.”

Xiao X was over the moon, finally feeling a sense of accomplishment as a child-rearing system.

The King nodded slightly at this compliment, casting a brief, meaningful glance at his wife.

It was the one who ambushed him with a scythe near the energy reactor.

This time, instead of a hyper-realistic 3D projection, it was a simpler 2D video.

The screen zoomed in on Cecilia’s face as if she were holding the camera too close. Her expression seemed like she tried hard to hide her disgust yet it was still obvious to others.

“Your Holiness, do you really believe Jiang Jinsheng? This isn’t some state-of-the-art child-rearing system of the new era; it’s just an ordinary dumb AI.”

The next second, a cool yet gentle female voice answered.

“Oh, Lia, you just don’t get it.”

Snap—

The screen shook slightly, and a beautiful girl with blond hair and blue eyes entered the frame.

Jiang Ci froze.

Suddenly, everything made sense. He understood why that woman had caressed his face and called him “Minmin” back then.

Because just looking at their facial features, he realized that he and Bai Min indeed shared a 60-70% resemblance. It was only the proportions, positioning, and sharper contours of Jiang Ci’s more masculine features that set them apart. These subtle differences made it easy to distinguish between them.

The camera zoomed out a little and was finally able to capture the background and both women in full view. Surprisingly, the background wasn’t the Holy White Tower but a simple, clean little house. They weren’t dressed in the Church’s white robes but in plain, modest clothing.

Then, Huo Xianfeng noticed that Bai Min’s hand was resting on her slightly rounded belly. She appeared to be about four months pregnant.

However, she looked very thin, her face pale, as if she were quite weak.

Yet, despite her frail appearance, Bai Min’s expression was one of pure joy, a radiant smile in her eyes that couldn’t be obfuscated.

“He said this little one might be a bit slow at first, but if it follows me, it’ll get smarter. In the future, this little one will accompany my darling A-Ci as he grows up.”

She turned to Cecilia,

“Hmm, let’s give this little one a name. What do you think, Lia?”

“…As long as it makes Your Holiness happy.”

Cecilia’s expression was icy and her jaw was slightly clenched, as if she were grinding her teeth. Her left cheek practically screamed “Not Happy,” while the right cheek clearly said “I hope men get erased from Earth.”

Bai Min seemed used to this reaction. She smiled sweetly at the camera and made a final decision.

“Hmm, let’s call it Xiao X.”

Jiang Ci was taken aback. He had always thought that the child-rearing system was something his father hastily put together to keep him from disturbing his work and that he gave it a half-hearted name.

But he didn’t expect that this name came from his mother.

“What a strange name,” Cecilia remarked, asking the question that had puzzled Jiang Ci for years.

“Why call it X?”

“Because X represents an undefined future and… infinite possibilities.”

Having finally escaped her cage, with newfound freedom and the promise of new life growing inside her, Bai Min felt an overwhelming happiness in that moment. Despite her pale and unhealthy complexion, she exuded a gentle, maternal warmth and a profound joy that came from the bottom of her heart.

But that joyful expression on her face lasted only a few seconds before it was replaced by clear exhaustion and drowsiness. It’s normal for omegas to experience extreme sleepiness during pregnancy.

Cecilia remained silent for a few seconds, then gently supported her waist, cradling her beloved Saintess in her arms. She softly stroked the silky, golden hair.

“Minmin, you need to rest.”
