Unconsciousness
by M1zushiThe moment He Yunan opened his eyes, he appeared extremely hollow, devoid of any
spirit. Following this, the ground began to tremble, and countless small cracks appeared on the surface of the control room.
Sensing that something was amiss, He Qixing abruptly grabbed Nie Chuan’s arm, pulling him closer as he prepared to move away. While Nie Chuan was being pulled away by He Qixing, he turned back in shock to look at the person who had just opened his eyes and showed no further reaction.
“Oh my god! Xingxing, why does your dad look so eerie?”
“I don’t even know if that’s still my father. Let’s quickly run away, I feel like something’s off about him.” He Qixing said in the midst of their escape.
The ground kept shaking, and he felt like something was about to emerge from the depths. They quickly rushed out of the control room door; Mo Xiao and the military personnel were waiting outside. Seeing the two teenagers running out, they couldn’t help but ask questions,
“What’s… what happened?”
They glanced inside the open gate.
“Is He Yunan still inside? Didn’t he escape?”
“Did you guys feel the ground shaking? Was there an earthquake?” He Qixing asked.
“We didn’t feel anything.” Several Jialin military personnel shook their heads.
The people outside didn’t feel it, or perhaps the ground didn’t shake too much for them. There was only one explanation: the control room was the epicenter of the tremors.
Just now, something was indeed about to emerge from underground; he wasn’t mistaken.
He Qixing furrowed his brows slightly.
While he was contemplating, the earthquake became increasingly evident. After feeling the earthquake worsen, he smiled bitterly. “This time, it’s really shaking.”
The entire ground began to collapse into the depths.
Nie Chuan quickly handed one of the two mechas in his hands to He Qixing and after the two boarded the mechas, they invited the nearby soldiers. “Hurry up!”
The soldiers reacted quickly, immediately climbing up the arms and legs of the mechas until they reached the gap between the mecha’s arms.
Nie Chuan and He Qixing didn’t waste any time. As soon as the soldiers climbed up, they soared out from the rooftop.
The soldiers held by the mecha’s arms could clearly see the whole silhouette emerging from the control room.
“What is that!!”
Several higher-ranked military personnel, upon seeing it, spoke with a serious voice, “Is that a Zerg?”
They had never seen a Zerg with such a massive size.
He Qixing looked back only after flying out of the danger zone, frowning. “Could that be the Zerg Queen?”
Everyone had heard of the existence of the Zerg Queen but nobody had never seen one… so he couldn’t be certain.
“That doesn’t seem to be her complete form.” Nie Chuan, who was usually fearless, now spoke with a trembling voice.
“The giant shadow we just saw was just her head.”
“She’s still expanding, and she can devour everything.”
“Your father is on her head and half of her body is buried inside.”
“The Zergs from outside have almost surrounded this planet.” A soldier who could contact Mo Xiao informed Nie Chuan and He Qixing about the situation outside the planet.
“…So it’s because there’s Zerg Queen here.”
“Wait a minute, according to your dad, those Zergs are controlled by a crystal. He can control them with it.”
He Qixing furrowed his brows deeply. “Just now, when we left, it seems like my father has lost consciousness.” Therefore, whether the person controlling the outside Zergs is his father or not remains unknown.
“General Mo Xiao, our energy detection system has detected… The energy in the energy shield linked to the control room and the underground energy is rapidly decreasing.”
“The energy response is concentrated on a creature with an unclear shape.”
“That ‘explosion’ just now wasn’t an explosion at all. Something is breaking through the soil.”
General Mo Xiao commanded the starship and first set up the outermost layer of energy cannons. She then calmly inquired, “Other than that creature and He Yunan, is there anyone else?”
“No, General.”
“The students and journalists have already been escorted out by the Interstellar Court’s military. Our people have just left the interior of the court,” said Andrew, standing at the position of the starship’s vice-captain. He looked at General Mo Xiao. “Captain, what are we waiting for? Let’s start firing.”
This creature might have difficulty moving due to its massive size, but such a large volume and slow speed didn’t seem intimidating. It was much easier to deal with compared to the outside Zergs.
Mo Xiao refrained from commenting; she just raised her hand to signal.
“Prepare to aim the first to fifth columns of energy cannons.”
With this command, the airship’s numerous energy cannons concentrated their aim on one location, emitting a tremendous power. It was blinding, making even those who had received warnings to avoid looking directly tightly close their eyes.
Nie Chuan and He Qixing had a clearer view than others inside the mecha control room. Especially He Qixing, who was intensely focused on the energy column display on the screen. After all the energy cannons hit the creature, he clenched his fist and muttered to himself, “This is bad.”
Dust scattered across the ground, and the entire structure of the Interstellar Court was obliterated, leaving only the earth-colored debris and a deep pit — except where the control room was.
He Yunan, connected to the creature’s head and the underground terrain beneath the creature, showed no change, standing alone in the middle of the deep pit, like a tall building made of mud rising from the pit.
“Cough, cough, cough! Damn! What the hell is this thing!”
A few soldiers who had finally opened their eyes coughed involuntarily from the that dust was raised, and seeing this scene made the itchiness in their throats come to a halt.
The Interstellar Court had concealed it just now, so it was alright. Now, without the cover of the Interstellar Court, the rough outline of the creature could be seen.
It looked like a giant tree.
He Qixing contacted from the operating room, “Commanders, are you all okay?”
He was still a military academy student, so for him, the people he was protecting could be called commanders.
“We’re fine.”
“The optical brain isn’t damaged, right?”
“No, but the signal isn’t very good.”
Why was he asking these questions?
“Commanders, I hope you can help me convey a few messages to General Mo Xiao.”
“I want General Mo Xiao to not attempt to bombard the creature with these energy cannons anymore…”
“Why? Why should we not take advantage of its immobility and deal with it quickly?” a commander interrupted.
“Yes, that’s right. We have to get rid of it quickly. Otherwise, when it drains the energy shield outside and the external Zergs rushes in, we’ll all die.”
He Qixing answered quickly because he didn’t want to waste time explaining,
“But that creature can absorb the light from the energy cannons!”
He usually acted as a sniper, so he saw things clearer than many others. The creature opened its mouth just before it was about to be bombarded!
“Are you sure you saw it clearly, Major He?” The military personnel’s voice was serious because this kind of information that might change the entire strategic layout couldn’t be casually mentioned.
“This is my speculation. I hope you can trust me. Please don’t give it more energy.” He Qixing nodded.
Because the voice channels of the two people’s mechas were connected, Nie Chuan also heard it.
He was the person who trusted He Qixing’s judgment the most. So while others were still contacting Mo Xiao, he was already discussing countermeasures.
“Xingxing, what do you think we should do?”
“We need mechas capable of close combat to approach and attack its fatal weak points,” He Qixing’s voice was somewhat tense.
“Weak points? What are the creature’s weak points?”
Nie Chuan placed the soldiers he was holding in his arms on the ground and took out a giant metal sword.
He Qixing and He Yunan, standing on the creature’s head, looked at each other from a distance…
“I don’t know,”
“But we have to try.”
