“How will you explain to Chu Fengyuan that you helped me escape from prison?”

“Duke Chu Fengyuan has always admired you,” came the reply.

“You could say you’ve changed sides, which is a good thing for Duke Chu Fengyuan.”

Gu Huan held his chin with his fingers, somewhat disbelieving this statement.

He had ruined Chu Fengyuan’s plans so many times before, and Chu Fengyuan might indeed be happy to see him. After all, he could be left to be cut into pieces, which would be considered as an end to his hatred.

Gu Huan chuckled lightly and did not express any opinion on his statement.

“Are you planning to bring me before him to gain favor?”

“It’s just a joke… You know, I’m only loyal to you.”

He Yunan took Gu Huan’s hand and put it against his forehead, as if praying to God to bless mankind.

Gu Huan subconsciously removed his fingers from He Yunan’s hand without saying anything.

Although Gu Huan pulled his fingers away and had a cold attitude, He Yunan still said understandingly,

“If you don’t want to appear in front of Chu Fengyuan for fear of his revenge. You can also sit on this starship. The war is about to start. You only need to provide the required amount of mental power needed to power the Zerg Crystals until the war is won.”

“Those twins will be your shield. With them around, Chu Fengyuan will always think that it is the mental power provided by those two twins. You can hide until after the war and then show up again.”

“If you help me, won’t Chu Fengyuan be suspicious?” Gu Huan furrowed his brows.

“There hasn’t been any leak about assisting you,” He Yunan stated confidently, his expression calm. “I had an alibi at the time, and the new Interstellar Court planet’s security control system is still relatively new and unsteady. Anything could have happened. After I get you to the planet where the twins and I are hiding, I’ll take care of any traces I left on the Interstellar Court planet.”

“Whether or not you want to infiltrate and join Duke Chu Fengyuan’s side, you can think about it slowly,” He Yunan didn’t give a direct answer.

Although he had a definite answer in his heart, he couldn’t appear too eager, as he needed to conceal his true motives. It would also be a good opportunity to see those twin girls. They didn’t seem as sharp as He Yunan, and perhaps he could extract some information from them.

Gu Huan relaxed his furrowed brow and nodded slightly. “That could work.”

His gaze dropped to his empty wrist.

He could sense the starship’s navigation path outside, but he wasn’t familiar with this galaxy system. Even if he remembered the route, he had no idea of his exact location in the vast universe.

At times like these, he really missed Xiao Ling.

When the starship’s main doors opened, two young girls rushed forward and latched onto He Yunan’s arms, one on each side, shaking him and calling out in unison.

“Daddy!”

“Father!”

He Yunan retained his usual poker-face and waved his hands to try to get the girls to step aside, but they held on tightly.

Gu Huan stood there in a white knit sweater he had worn upon leaving prison. The sweater was slightly dirty, but he didn’t appear defeated; rather, he exuded an air of a fallen aristocrat.

Cheng Dui and Cheng Zhao noticed Gu Huan’s presence and immediately reacted, their pupils constricting. In the next second, they quickly turned around and shielded He Yunan with their bodies, each one holding an energy gun and pointing it at the unarmed intruder.

Their expressions were tense and nervous.

Gu Huan looked at the two young girls and couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions. Even though they stood on opposing sides, he couldn’t muster any anger toward them. Their situation was too pitiable, especially the omega among them. She didn’t even know she was an omega yet, but she would soon experience the same mental crisis in her estrus as him.

Gu Huan initially thought of trying to smile to ease the tense atmosphere, but he found it too difficult to manage. The smile he managed to produce was seen by the two girls as a condescending one.

As the energy guns were about to be fired at Gu Huan, He Yunan forcefully restrained one of the girls and spoke angrily. “General Gu Huan is a guest. Don’t be unreasonable.”

Cheng Dui and Cheng Zhao displayed a pouting and aggrieved expression.

“But he’s an enemy. He already betrayed you once,” Cheng Dui argued.

Although the two of them were much younger than Gu Huan and had never met him before. They knew Gu Huan grew up in the orphanage.

They had heard that only Gu Huan could accomplish the tasks that their father wanted to do. So, how could he help those scoundrels in the palace? He should be helping them instead. The more praise they saw about Gu Huan on the optical network, the more they regarded him as a traitor.

“There is no betrayal. Your Gu Huan-gege just forgot some things; he doesn’t know what he did.” Raising his head, He Yunan nodded and pointed with his chin, “This is it.”

“He’s back.”

“You need to be sensible.”

Cheng Dui bit her lip and holstered her energy gun first. Cheng Zhao followed suit, looking at her sister who had already re-holstered her weapon.

Gu Huan stood in place, watching the two girls chatter with He Yunan about what he had done on the new planet. Although He Yunan’s expression remained unchanged, he appeared attentive and amicable with the two girls. Gu Huan unexpectedly sensed a trace of genuine warmth between them.

He followed He Yunan, and some scenes flashed back in his mind.

Indeed, many of them were related to He Yunan.

But he and He Yunan weren’t as close as the two girls and He Yunan.

That felt like…He had experienced real warmth, so he was on guard against false warmth.

Gu Huan waited patiently for some time until He Yunan finally got a moment to talk to him without the girls around. “It’s better to conceal your appearance here; it’s somewhat… dangerous.” He Yunan handed Gu Huan a hat designed for hiding one’s appearance.

Gu Huan’s eyes flickered, and he put on the hat. He followed behind the three, stepping onto the newly arrived planet. This planet was unlike the one where the orphanage was located, lacking its vitality and exuding a sense of decay and the stench of violence. Gu Huan noticed that everyone he encountered here lacked an optical brain. Some people had gruesome tattoos or exaggerated accessories in place of the optical brain.

As they looked at him, their gazes held a nauseating desire, making Gu Huan furrow his brows deeply. Just as He Yunan had described, this place was indeed highly dangerous. It was a true haven for criminals. There was no need to worry about the optical brain revealing their criminal secrets on this planet, and no one would pursue them. Everyone who found their way to this planet had criminal intentions or potential.

On this planet, you have to remove the optical brain on your hand, if not you’d be exposing everyone’s secrets here. This is an unspoken rule among the inhabitants.

He Yunan was likely the only one strolling on this planet with an optical brain on, and everyone accepted it.

Gu Huan didn’t know there was such a thing.

He just felt that staying here wouldn’t lead to peaceful nights.

“We’re here,” He Yunan said, stopping in front of a small courtyard.
