“They’re getting stronger,” commented He Qixing.

Although he didn’t know the exact values, the precision and perceptual range of the two mechas had clearly changed. It was as if they had evolved in just an instant.

Their state resembled that of Nie Chuan, but it was much more stable than his usual condition.

Could those twins be acquainted with the General?

He Qixing glanced at the location where the twins had last disappeared on the mecha control screen. He quickly commanded Nie Chuan to evacuate from their current position; their location was likely exposed, and staying any longer might expose them to energy cannon attacks.

This time, they had selected the competition arena themselves.

The primary setting was a group of abandoned factories, providing ample cover. Amid the ruins, the two black mechas could easily conceal themselves, which was an advantage they could exploit.

After a rapid analysis and calculation in his mind, He Qixing looked at the buildings on the ground. Then he turned to Nie Chuan and said, “Nie Chuan, I’ll draw their fire. You hide, and if they reveal themselves, come out to assist immediately.”

Their opponents undoubtedly had stronger mental powers than them. Since hiding wouldn’t work, it was better not to hide at all.

If He Qixing deliberately exposed his position, the twins would most likely choose to eliminate him first. This move was a bit risky, but taking the initiative was always better than constantly playing defense.

Nie Chuan listened from the side, gave a thumbs-up gesture, and then left his previous position. He Qixing adjusted his mecha’s posture, leaped up, and jumped from the balcony. With a twist of his arm, he aimed the energy cannon mounted on his arm and fired several shots toward the estimated location.

Two energy projectiles were fired from both sides of the energy cannon, tracing arcs through the air. Their astonishing speed even produced sonic booms.

The commentator observed the trajectory of the two projectiles and analyzed, “It seems that classmate He has been pushed to the brink and his judgment might be clouded. There’s no one at that location.”

“Wait, something seems to have changed.”

Because she narrowly avoided being hit, a white mecha revealed itself from its concealed state.

Seeing the white mecha appear in front of him, He Qixing didn’t hesitate to raise the energy cannon once again in mid-air and fired a few shots towards the newly visible opponent.

His mecha was equipped with long-range weaponry, making its close-quarters combat capabilities relatively weak, and he couldn’t let the enemy get too close.

The girl confidently evaded the projectiles flying toward her.

“I don’t even need to sense trajectories at this level; the mecha’s evasion system can handle dodging for me.”

Her disdainful expression hadn’t yet faded when she suddenly felt a chill behind her. Upon seeing the screen’s display, her lips curled downward in an instant.

Her opponent’s target wasn’t her at all! It was the wall behind her!

Bricks and tiles fell one after another, hitting the mecha. While these stone fragments couldn’t cause substantial damage to her mecha, they managed to impede her movements.

He Qixing had been waiting for this moment, his only chance.

The energy projectiles gradually accumulated within the energy cannon barrel, emitting a buzzing sound. The other white mecha finally couldn’t hold back any longer and emerged from its stealth mode, attempting to save its teammate.

However, before it could fly a few meters forward, Nie Chuan, who had been waiting for the right opportunity, intercepted it.

Nie Chuan created a brief window of opportunity for He Qixing, who decisively eliminated the enemy that had fallen into the trap.

“Your teammate has been eliminated.”

Upon hearing that one of the twins had been eliminated, the girl seemed to become infuriated. She changed her target and engaged Nie Chuan, who was closest to her.

In close-quarters combat, Nie Chuan was certainly not afraid. The black and white mechas constantly clashed, creating several shadows as they intersected in the air. Their mechas’ best weapons happened to be sharp blades, turning the mecha battle into a test of speed and agility.

He Qixing lowered the energy cannon he had just used to take down an enemy and looked at the air, showing no intention of intervening.

The aerial battle between the two mechas was too intense. If he used the energy cannon, he might accidentally injure Nie Chuan.

Moreover, a 2v1 situation wouldn’t look good, and there was no need for it anyway. Nie Chuan’s sudden burst of ability was no less than those two girls’. Even if he couldn’t win, he could fight them to a draw. By the time the time limit was reached, they would still have the advantage of having one more team member.

At the moment the time ended, the outcome of this round was just as He Qixing had expected. Nie Chuan and the last remaining enemy ended in a tie.

They finally won a round, but unfortunately, this competition was a best-of-three format. In the third round… they still lost to their opponents.

As Nie Chuan teleported out of the arena, he slumped his head dejectedly and slouched onto a chair in the resting area.

He Qixing walked over to his side, overhearing Nie Chuan muttering to himself, “I hope the General didn’t see that, I hope the General didn’t see that.”

Glancing at the age of their opponents, it seemed they had lost to people younger than themselves, and not even military personnel at that. It was truly hard to find a reasonable excuse for their loss, they needed to go back and train harder.

“Look at you, acting all hopeless.”

The two girls both had striking shoulder-length white hair, with some stray strands falling onto their cheeks when they tilted their heads. They looked quite cute and charming, almost identical, except for one small distinction: one of them had a mole on her cheek, while the other didn’t.

“Who is this General you’re talking about?”

“Gu Huan, General Gu Huan. He’s the Commander-in-Chief of the Jialin Special Military District. You must know about him.” Nie Chuan said with pride.

“I know…” The girl’s voice trailed off slightly. “It’s strange that you even know him. Why did you end up being his subordinate?”

Huh?

Nie Chuan didn’t catch the second part of the girl’s sentence, as her words were cut off by the other girl.

“Xiao Dui, don’t talk nonsense.”

Nie Chuan was a bit puzzled.

Team?

“What’s the big deal? Every team needs a leader,” he retorted.

Isn’t that’s quite formal?

Should he and He Qixing also clarify who the team leader is?

“Right, she’s Cheng Dui, but I usually call her Xiao Dui. I’m Cheng Zhao, ‘Zhao’ as in photography. I’m the younger sister,” the girl with the mole on her face introduced herself.

“I see,” Nie Chuan rubbed his head.

So the one without the mole was the older sister, Xiao Dui, and the one with the mole was the younger sister, Xiao Zhao. Their parents had quite a sense of humor, directly creating a pair of control group.

Just as Nie Chuan was about to praise the girl who had beaten him and ask them about their combat techniques, a familiar and handsome young man with black hair entered his field of vision. He stood up in a daze.

In his heart, he hummed the ancient song ” The lyrics of the song depict a feeling of heartbreak, longing, and sadness link " footnote="false"]Liáng Liáng.”

When did the General arrive?
